Municipality Viborg to use Impactly to measure the social impact of new social impact investment targeting vulnerable families
November 13, 2023

Viborg Municipality, The Social Investment Fund, The National Building Fund and Poul Due Jensen's Foundation (PDJF) are joining forces for new social impact investment. The effort is aimed at strengthening citizens' employment, education, well-being and life chances, as well as increase cohesion and citizenship in the area.

In the Viborg residential areas of Houlkær, Ellekonebakken and Karup Kølvrå, many families experience difficult and complex problems, with several having cases in different parts of the municipality. A strengthened social housing intervention is to promote contact between the families and welfare and leisure services by establishing interdisciplinary networks across the municipality and the housing organisations, so that the families receive the best and most holistic support.

Over the next three years, Impactly will help measure the impact of the intervention, so that Viborg Municipality and the other project partners can continuously follow the citizens' development and the impact of the intervention.

"We are proud that the project partners have chosen Impactly for this three-year project. A methodical approach to measuring impact is essential if you want to gain insight into your intervention, and with our platform, Viborg Municipality will be able to continuously follow the citizens' development, so that both citizens, municipality and society get the most out of this investment," says Anton Karlsson, Head of Impact Business at Impactly.

The goals of the intervention are to increase the residents' employment rate and reduce school absence among the children in the families. The intervention aims at contributing to increasing the well-being of families and strengthening the citizen's life chances. In addition, the intervention is to help strengthen cohesion and citizenship in the areas, so that the positive change is made permanent in the residential areas.

At Impactly, we look forward to collaborating with SUS - Socialt Udviklingscenter and University of Aalborg (AAU) on evaluation of the effort, where we contribute quantified data of the results of the effort, which SUS and AAU can support their overall evaluation of the effort 💪

Facts

The effort is part of a social impact investment, where the Social Investment Fund finances the effort with money from Poul Due Jensen's Foundation and The National Building Foundation. Viborg municipality pays back the investment if the desired results are achieved, which both benefit the individual family and the municipality's budgets. Part of the funds are reinvested in the local housing social cooperation. The model helps to strengthen the municipalities' ability to test new solutions together with the housing organizations and civil society.
